Student Government

For many at JBU, student government was a fun and easy way to be involved during their time in high school, and continuing those activities in college offers an opportunity for growth in leadership skills as well as resume building. JBU’s answer to the typical “student council” is the Student Government Association, or SGA. The group exists to represent the entirety of the student population, and to be a voice for all students on campus. In addition to different projects and meeting the needs of the campus, they also act as a bridge between the student body and school administration.

Elections are held every year for these leaders and include your typical positions like president and vice president but also senators for all residence halls, senators for the different colleges on campus and senators for the different classes.

Some of the projects that SGA have worked on in the past include the bike rental program, getting campus coinless laundry, homecoming games, the Junior/Senior Banquet, and the Toilet Paper, which is a student publication.

If you’re interested in gaining some experience in project management and want to represent a group of people on campus, you should definitely join SGA.
