Thrift Stores in NWA
Northwest Arkansas has a wide variety of stores and markets to shop at, including boutiques, flea markets, and vintage pop-ups. However, some of the local favorites for college students are thrift stores. Secondhand shopping is becoming increasingly popular, due to ever-changing fashion trends thanks to social media apps such as Instagram and TikTok. Instead of spending money on full-priced skirts and jeans, it is more cost-efficient to buy them secondhand. It not only helps students on a budget, but it also helps the environment.
If you enjoy thrifting or are looking to try it, here are just a few of the thrift stores located throughout NWA:
Goodwill: Goodwill is easily one of the most recognizable thrift stores. With several locations throughout Siloam Springs, Fayetteville and Rogers, students looking to shop secondhand will have a variety of options to find sweaters and flannels for the fall season.
Potter’s House: With busy locations in Siloam Springs and Fayetteville, the popular Potter’s House has a more organized layout, separating styles and sizes of clothing, making it much easier to find just what unique item of clothing you’re looking for. They also have a color coded system on their clothing, so if you find a piece that you love but aren’t in the mood to buy, just come back a week later and it may be even cheaper.
Cheap Thrills: A hidden gem of Fayetteville, Cheap Thrills doubles as a vintage store and a costume shop, only selling more upscale finds. Though it is pricier than options such as Goodwill and Potter’s House, customers can always be satisfied with their thrifted finds. Pieces here are usually better quality than the average thrift store, containing less holes and stains.
410 Vintage: Located in Fayetteville, 410 Vintage is a modernized antique shop, selling secondhand items ranging from giant robots to timeless records. In the back of the shop, more vintage clothes can be found.
Goodwill Outlet: The Goodwill Outlet, also known as the Bins, is located in Rogers and can be quite overwhelming. Clothes, books and whatever else they have in their inventory are thrown into giant bins and customers dig through them, searching for anything worth buying. Although quite unsanitary, a pair of gloves, a mask, and some determination can allow you to walk away with some amazing finds.
Thrifting is a great method of creating cheap outfits and bonding with friends, old and new. Next time you’re looking for something fun to do, take a trip through Northwest Arkansas. Odds are, you’ll find a thrift store around every corner.
