The TP Game
One of the unique traditions at JBU is the famous Toilet Paper Game. The first men’s basketball game of the season, students, staff, alumni, parents and community members pack the arena and wait for JBU’s first score of the game. After that, the entire crowd launches rolls and rolls of toilet paper onto the court, causing a 15-minute pickup and a technical foul for the rest of the season. One of the other special things about this game is that it is also used to collect canned goods for the community.
The Toilet Paper Game, a tradition that started in 1984, has been listed as a top fan tradition in college basketball by Sports Weekly and was described as the “best technical foul in all of sports” by USA Today. The game has also been covered by ESPN “Around the Horn” and “Sports Center.”
The tradition tends to be a highlight for JBU students, so you won’t want to miss it!
