Dorm Life
Dorm Life at JBU is simply unmatched, with each dorm containing unique features, incredible residence life staff, and an atmosphere of togetherness which will ensure you feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door.
As far as atmosphere goes you can expect calm, quiet mornings as you get ready for classes, followed by a night of activities and studying. Residence life staff plan events all year long for dorms such as the Hutch Hall Mini Golf Tournament or the J. Alvin Christmas Party.
The first and oldest residence hall on campus is J. Alvin. Most popular for its expansive atrium and energetic nightlife, this all-guys dorm is perfect for students who are looking for fun. The dorm includes three stories and a basement, and contains a rock-climbing wall and a gym.
Our all-girls dorm, Mayfield, is the most recent to receive renovations and is known for its sleek interior designs and expansive basement, often used for gatherings and bible studies. In addition, they also have a large patio with plenty of room for studying and a fire pit perfect for roasting marshmallows and enriching conversations.
Our coed dorms, Hutch and Walker, both feature large communal spaces and a calm night life for those who are looking for a more relaxed living experience. Hutch is the dorm closest to the sand volleyball courts, the walking trails, the tennis courts, and Ground Floor Coffee. Walker sits in the middle of campus and is the dorm closest to the Health Complex and the cafeteria, and is attached to the Walker Student Center.
In addition to these features, each dorm will have communal kitchen space, laundry machines, bike racks and computer labs. No matter what dorm you choose, JBU is certain to provide you with a comforting environment that will be your home away from home.
